New York: Washington Square and Bryant Park

We woke up at 11AM and had to get ready in time for Kayla’s script class. Stopped by a thai place for lunch before (only $7 each! wow!).

The class was really interesting – it was great being able to sit in and listen to everyone bounce off each other with their unique ideas. It gave me a chance to look at films in different ways.

“The Sky Is The Sea and The Sun is The Moon.” Journeying to the top of a mountain to get to the sun.

The sun was out, so we took the opportunity to hit up some sightseeing spots.
Met a super friendly squirrel at the Washington Square Park!
It was cool seeing everyone out just doing their thing 🙂
The Washington Square Arch!
The color of the NYU business building was really pretty.
The library was also awesome, but was a bit scary haha. So open and tall inside!

I decided to head off by myself and go to Times Square to kill some time while Kayla had more classes.

Bryant Park!

I spent a lot of time in the Kinokuniya across the street (of course…) and saw a really cute Punpun keychain! I was looking at the same keychain online, so I immediately bought it for Shane haha! I really hope he likes it. On the second floor of Kinokuniya is Cafe Zaiya, which was super cute!

The seats by the window overlooked Bryant Park, so I got an iced caramel latte (so bitter!) and sketched. The glass it was served in was beyond adorable. Since I had a lot of time to kill before Kayla was free, Shane kept me company through texts.

I walked around Times Square before sitting down in Bryant Park, enjoying the scenery. Despite the sun setting I kept sketching outdoors since the night was so nice. I debated asking if I could sit at someone’s table so I wouldn’t be bothered, but figured I’d be okay. Sure enough, a middle-aged man passed by, then came back and asked if I did “Chinese drawings.” I was a little taken aback, but before I could respond he started improving in the most gentle voice. He called my art a gift from God, just like my smile, my eyes, and my hair. Oh man I was flustered! haha. I didn’t know what to do but I don’t think I’ll ever forget his words.

Met up with Kayla after sundown and while walking to Times Square together I told her about the man. I know living in the city, you become numb to panhandlers, but it’s hard to steel your heart to people like him. I hope he continues to find joy and happiness.

We went to the Toys R’ Us store. They had a ferris wheel! I really like the idea and look of ferris wheels, but I can’t say I feel the same being in them…

We tried to play on the DDR machine but it was broken.

For dinner we went to John’s Pizzeria. $15 per pizza!! No slices!! I only ate 3 slices… lol

Ahhhh I get to see Shane tomorrow! I’m so nervous but so excited!! My bb~ ;-; I finally fell asleep at 3AM after trying to convince him to buy a different ticket, since he had to wake up at 5:30 for the boltbus… I tried to set an alarm so I’d wake up when he started traveling but I shut it off in my sleep……………
