Lens Review: GEO Princess Mimi Apple Green

Today I’m going to be reviewing one of my favorite lenses: GEO’s Princess Mimi series in Apple Green! What I would consider my most comfortable pair of lenses to date, this is also the largest in my collection, at 15mm in diameter!
I initially bought these contacts for my Sakura Kinomoto cosplay from Card Captor Sakura. CLAMP’s art style emphasizes beautifully vibrant, large eyes on their heroines, so I wanted to get a pair of green contacts that have a larger diameter than most. I decided with GEO’s Bambi/Princess Mimi series because they appeared to fit the description in both color vibrancy and size.

Here’s a comparison photo of my natural brown eyes (right) and the Princess Mimi contacts (left). As you can see, the black outer rim is large, blending in with the green and yellow inner rims, with a relatively large retina opening. From far away this creates a very beautiful 3-tone effect blending green, yellow and brown (my natural eye color).

Here’s my review breakdown:
Vibrancy: 4/5
In direct natural light, these contacts are as green as can be, and I love that! However, in indirect lighting, indoors, and from far away, they’re much darker, and the color can get lost because of it. I have this same issue with GEO’s Nudy series, so I had a vague expectation on the vibrancy of their Princess Mimi series.
Comfort: 5/5
For what GEO series seem to lack in indirect lighting vibrancy, they sure make up for it in comfort. These contacts are ridiculously comfortable, no less expected from GEO lenses. As soon as I put these in they settle perfectly, and I forget I’m wearing them! I never have issues getting photos back where the lenses are skewed (an issue I have with EOS New Adult lenses), and I can wear them for the full 8 hours with hardly any redness (and longer! Though I make sure to take them out and rest my eyes when I can). Still, be sure to have a bottle of eyedrops on you, as these are still circle lenses.
Enlargement: 5/5
My friends have, on multiple occasions, affectionately called me a “Gerber baby” whenever I wear these contacts – which is great for cosplaying a young shoujo heroine, but not so much for everyday use! These are strictly cosplay-only contacts for me, but I’ve run into people on the streets who rock this series out beautifully. My natural eye diameter is already fairly huge, so I feel a little self-conscious wearing this large of a lens out to meet with friends. They look absolutely beautiful in cosplay ♥.
Design: 4/5
I’m all for black outer rims on circle lenses, and I think the Princess Mimi series does this beautifully. The way that the rim is blended into the green and yellow, and then speckled reminds me of this one scene in my favorite movie, Studio Ghibli’s Whisper of the Heart (here, and here). It creates a very girly, doe-eyed look without being too gimmicky. I’m not a huge fan of the size of the retina opening though, as it leans more towards a hazel effect against my eyes, rather than a true green color.
Overall, I will definitely be checking out more colors from the Princess Mimi series, and will reorder these once they expire! Do you have a favorite pair of green lenses? Feel free to let me know by leaving a comment below!
